Life is a gift and should be celebrated

Do you sometimes feel bad when you have more than others? More money. More stuff. More friends. More vacation. More clothes, and so on. You might not be rich but, compared to many other creatures on this planet, your life could even be considered amazing. Am I right? And, do you ever feel bad about wanting more, or not being grateful enough for what you actually have? I do.

It’s in our nature to not be satisfied, that’s why we managed to evolve from ape to man. We are, as I am writing this right now, growing and evolving rapidly. But look at our bodies. Our bodies have not changed that much after we started walking more straight. We haven’t evolved bodies that can breathe under water, or wings to take over the sky – considering we are already taking over everything on the ground, where will we go next? Space?

What’s my point? Well, I think it’s obvious. Why are we not celebrating the life we have here and now, on earth? Why are we always asking, what’s next? If it’s in our nature to not be satisfied, why are we okay with taking from others? Shouldn’t it be more satisfying to help people that truly need it, so they can have a good life too? Wouldn’t that enrich my life as well? Should we not enjoy a beautiful day instead of worrying if tomorrow is going to be just as beautiful?

Am I saying that you cannot have a bad day? Am I saying that you are not allowed to wish for more things in life? Of course not. We are humans. But be aware of why you’re angry or sad. Be here and now, try to learn from your feelings instead of putting a blanket over it and buy another bag. When you’re not satisfied, your brain starts to work harder to find a solution to change that. Hopefully it will take you on a path where you get to learn more about yourself and about the world you live in. THAT’S celebrating life.
